James W. Young - W7FTT
We all have our 'pretty' pictures...those of
us who carry the camera everywhere. In my nearly
50 years of photography, I am still awaiting
the 'great' shot(s) of my life. If we ever think we
have finally succeeded in capturing our best
picture, our efforts to improve would fall far short
of our potential. I now carry my camera and
video wherever I go. Although I am primarily
interested in atmospheric, or natural phenomena,
I do love to capture circumstances and
people in a natural and/or unposed setting.
Occasionally, I have had the opportunity of
capturing some people in a posed setting that
looks natural. People who are extremely
photogenic are rare, but I have have been
blessed with one in my own family, and this is
my first daughter, Jennifer (Danielson). I
will be putting many of her pictures on this
site. You will, 'undoubtedly', agree with
my assessment!
In January 2002, I purchased my first digital
still camera, a Minolta Dimage 7. I have since
then upgraded to a Dimage 7Hi. I thought
I would never replace the 'film' style camera with
a digital one. I was WRONG! I
have taken over 8500 pictures with the Dimage camera,
and less than 4 rolls of regular film with
my trusted Pentax since January, 2002.
Here is one of my best digital images acquired.
This was of a rocket launch at Vandenberg AFB
in September, 2002. The photo was captured
from Table Mountain, CA (near Wrightwood).
